RISK MANAGEMENT

Horses can be dangerous and activities involving them are inherently risky.

Transactions involving horses are risky too.

The potential for harm or adverse consequences should be considered upfront and steps taken to minimise risks and problems.

A HorseForce contract will help you manage your financial risk. You no longer have to be rich to have the protection of a written agreement.

CONTRACTS

We have a suite of standard contracts available for Australian horse enthusiasts. All contracts are prepared by experienced equine lawyer, Michael Mackinnon. Go to 'About Us' to read his profile and 'Contracts' for more information on the contract available.

Michael can tailor any of our standard contracts to meet special circumstances. Recently he has prepared contracts for a stallion owner selling special breeding packages, someone selling a share in a stallion, an authority for a professional sales agent and a training and campaign contract for a professional rider.

BUYING AND SELLING HORSES

Use a contract because your rights will be clearer and easier to prove. Oral contracts are unreliable.

To order a contract for $39.95 go to the Online order page.

LEGAL ADVICE

Michael Mackinnon is contacted daily from people around Australia seeking legal advice.

The most cost effective way to deal with enquiries is in a telephone consultation where time is charged in half hour blocks. He delegates the task of assembling the facts to an assistant who informs him before the consultation.  You don't pay for the fact finding, just his legal analysis and opinion.

Generally, disputes involving horse sales for less than $10,000 are heard by a small claims tribunal or court. Michael can advise where you stand legally and the next step for you to take if you want to pursue a claim.

Appointments are generally necessary for telephone consultations.

Credit card payment is available.
